About Catholic Charities

Mother and ChildCatholic Charities has been helping birth parents and adoptive families for over 80 years. We are dedicated to working with Adoptive parents to ensure that the child transitions quickly and easily into an adoptive home. Our goal is to help adoptive parents reach their dreams of having a family through adoption.

Who Does Catholic Charities Serve?

Catholic Charities serves children, adolescents, adults, couples and families of any religious background, race or nationality residing in Northeast Wisconsin.

Home Studies

At the core of our services to adoptive families and children is the home study process. As an adoptive couple the state of Wisconsin requires that you have a home study completed by a lisenced child placing agency. Catholic Charities has been a lisenced child placing agency for over 70 years! We are dedicated to assisting you in completing the home study requirements and answering any questions you may have about adoption in the process.

What services does Catholic Charities offer?

Catholic Charities offers supportive services to individuals and families going through the adoption process. These services include:

  • Family and individual counseling
  • Education, including parenting, adoption issues, nutrition
  • Information and referral to community resources
  • Post Adoption services based on agency requirements and individual country regulations
  • Compassionate workers and a support group compiled of other families that have chosen to adopt their children internationally.

Our services are confidential!

The Adoption Option

Red Tennis ShoesCatholic Charities Adoption Services promote Open Adoption. It is our philosophy that full openness is ideal between and among birth parents and prospective adoptive parents.

What is Open Adoption?

In an Open Adoption, the birth parent is able to choose the adoptive parents from a selection of profiles. The profiles give the birth parent a glimpse into the adoptive couple's lives in order to see what type of family will potentially raise their child. The birth parent is then able to meet the adoptive couple and create a plan for openness. This plan could include how often the adoptive couple will send pictures, cards and letters regarding their child, visitation possibilities between birth parent(s) and the child, phone calls etc.

The goal of Open Adoption is to place the child in a loving, nurturing adoptive home and allow the child to grow up with knowledge of and connection to their birth parent(s). Adoption is always a birth parents CHOICE it is never an obligation or requirement.
