You may be experiencing feelings of loss, grief, guilt, worthlessness. You are not alone. Scientific studies now show that, for many people, abortion can be a traumatic experience which may cause emotional and spiritual problems.

These problems are common, not only for the woman who undergoes an abotion, but also for the father of the unborn baby, the grandparents, relatives, friends, and even medical personnel.

Following the abortion experience, many feel relieved. For some, pain is immediate. For others, problems may not surface until years later.

Counselors at Catholic Charities are state certified and specialize in this field. One of our professionals can help you understand the impact of your abortion, and help you process the feelings you are experiencing.

Since 1988, Project Rachel has provided confidential, nonjudgmental healing for women and men affected by abortion. It is designed to help you identify and express your feelings in a healthy, healing manner in either an individual or a group setting. If you choose, a priest or clergy may be involved in this process.

Project Rachel welcomes all people, regardless of faith and income. Fees are based on ability to pay. Insurance may cover some costs.

		The Story of Our Name The name Project Rachel is rooted in the Old Testament figure named Rachel, who wept inconsolably over the loss of her child. But God spoke to her, assuring her that her cries had been heard, and that there was hope for her future.
