College Seminaries

for men who are starting or finishing college

St. John Vianney College Seminary

Located on the campus of the University of St. Thomas, this seminary is sponsored by the Archdiocese of St. Paul, Minnesota. Seminarians live and pray in community, but attend classes, eat meals and take part in the life a medium-sized co-ed Catholic University.
Young men are invited to the Open House at St. John Vianney College Seminary. These weekends are organized and presented by seminarians to help young men reflect on the call of God in their lives as well as help them see what college seminary has to offer. The Green Bay Diocese's Vocation Office sponsors trips for men from the diocese.

Conception Seminary College

This seminary offers a college degree for men who have not yet received one. It is operated by the Benedictine Monks of Conception Abbey in rural Missouri.

Major Seminaries

for men who have finished college

 

The University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary

Located in Illinois, north of Chicago, this seminary offers the M.Div and STB degrees in theology, as well as a pre-theology program to prepare college graduates who have not studied philosophy.
The Ministry Weekend is a retreat designed to help men discern God's call in their lives, especially in regards to diocesan priesthood. The weekend is for men who already have a college degree and are considering the possibility of diocesan priesthood. This is an excellent opportunity to experience the seminary, experience community prayer, and meet some of the men who are studying there, and make use of the recreational facilities (gymnasium, pool, racquetball courts, weight room, etc.). Saint Meinrad School of Theology

Connected to the Benedictine Archabbey of St. Meinrad, in southern Indiana, this seminary offers a graduate degree in theology, as well as spiritual formation programs to prepare a candidate for priesthood.

Pontifical College Josephinum

Located in Columbus, Ohio, the Josephinum is both a college where students are able to earn an undergraduate liberal arts degree with the necessarily philosophy requirements, as well a graduate level school of theology.

Pontifical North American College

Located in Rome, Italy, this is the Roman Seminary sponsored by the U.S. Bishops. It trains men for diocesan priesthood. The North American College is the house of formation. Students attend the Gregorian University or the University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) for their academic work.

Which Seminary?

The Bishop will place students at a particular seminary after listening to the recommendation of the student and the Vocation Director, and taking into consideration the needs of the Diocese of Green Bay.
